During the last Wednesday of August, people in town gather for one giant food fight! The thing though, is they only throw tomatoes. The fight usually lasts for an hour, and it gets so intense that fire trucks have to clean up the town square with their hoses.

It may not be as big of a food fight as the La Tomatina, but the city of Ivrea in Italy, also knows how to host a huge fruit war! While the history of the festival is quite unclear, most people know it to be about the plight of a woman, who was about to be raped but fought back, and killed her attacker. Every year, a young lady is chosen to represent the woman in the story. The Italians go all out on this, as they even come in battle costumes!
